Its official Dave Recordon (social network technologist) has said his final goodbyes to Six-Apart. After weeks of discussion Recordon announced today that he would be joining the Facebook team as Senior Open Programs Manager.

Recordon has spent the majority of his career promoting and developing open source standards and software. His work can be seen at Six-Apart with innovations to open source code for social networking applications, such as TypePad, Moveable Type, etc. However he found most success in his work with OpenID. He joined Brad Fitzpatrick in 2005, founder of OpenID.

What will Recordon bring to the Facebook team? Well Recordon states that Facebook has made leaps and bounds in open source development, and he will take the role of furthering this work. He didn’t go into detail on exactly what his primary focus will be on, but I think everyone will be interested to see how this all plays out.

Congratulations and best of luck to you David Recordon
